[ARCHIVED] Weather Siren Test 1/4 at noon - Cancelled

Update:

Due to overcast conditions, the weather siren test for January 4th has been cancelled.

Why do we cancel when it is overcast?  It is important for the public to associate hearing a siren during cloudy weather with a tornado and to immediately take cover. The weather sirens are located in proximity to places that have outdoor activities, such as schools and ball fields.  They will only sound for areas that the National Weather Service has identified as likely being affected by a tornado.
