Come Over Rover-Dog Day Out Program

The hours to pick up a dog for Come Over Rover are:

Monday-Friday 9-3

Saturday: 9-2

Dogs who are just out for the day must be returned to the shelter by 3 pm Monday-Friday and 2 pm on Saturday.  If you should choose to extend you time with your Come Over Rover Buddy, GREAT-just call us to let us know. We encourage weekend trips and longer stays as well.  We want our dogs to get as much exposure as possible.  Our goal is to have an empty shelter. 

"Less than a year after the Doggy Day Out program began, Louisville Metro Animal Services tripled their total number of fosters, sent dogs on over 350 day-outings and cut behavioral euthanasia in half.  Over 70 dogs have found homes as a direct result of their field trips."  This is what we are trying to accomplish here at Carroll County Animal Services.  Studies have shown that through field trips and short-term foster programs:

  • More playful
  • More Relaxed
  • Confident
  • Get More Exercise
  • Improved Behavioral Welfare
  • Improved Quality of Life
  • More Likely to get Adopted
