Legal Department
MISSION
The Legal Department provides preventive counseling to the Carroll County Board of Commissioners, its chairman, the constitutional officers, the departments and associated boards and agencies. The legal department provides representation in legal matters and judicial proceedings involving any entity under the county's authority, except where a conflict of interest exists. County ordinances, resolutions, legislative bills, deeds, contracts and other legal documents are prepared or reviewed by the legal department. When appropriate, outside legal services are secured and supervised by the county attorney.
GOALS
Provide prompt, quality legal representation for all government units. Continue to deliver low total legal costs per unit of service delivered. Continue implementation of preventive legal measures.
AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT
The County Attorney serves as Carroll County's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Officer. Any complaints regarding the County's compliance with the ADA should be forwarded to the Carroll County Legal Department, to the attention of the County Attorney.
