Prison / Correctional Institute
The Carroll County Correctional Institute provides housing for state and county inmates and a general labor force supporting Carroll County government. Four open bay dorms house about 220 inmates who range in security levels from medium to minimum to "trusty."
WORK ASSIGNMENTS
About 170 inmates are assigned to work in various areas in the county. They provide labor to the following local agencies:

County Maintenance

Health Department
Georgia State Patrol
Carrollton Police Department
About 50 inmates work inside the prison at various tasks including: laundry, barber shop, kitchen, janitorial services and building maintenance.

What is the difference between the prison and the jail?
Carroll County Prison operates under the regulatory authority of the Georgia Department of Corrections. The inmates house at the prison have been sentenced.
How do I get to the prison?
* From Atlanta: I-20 West to Exit 24 then left on Hwy. 61. After 10 miles go west on Hwy. 166 (Carrollton Bypass). After overpass take first right onto Old Newnan Road. Take the next right on Precision Pass then right on Horsley Mill Road. Carroll County Prison is on the left.
* From Rome: Hwy. 27 South to Carrollton. Turn onto Hwy. 166 East. Travel through two traffic lights. After the second light take the first left onto Old Newnan Road. Take the next right on Precision Pass then right on Horsley Mill Road. Carroll County Prison is on the left.
* From Newnan: Alternate Hwy. 27/Hwy. 16 north to Carrollton. Turn onto Hwy. 166 East. Take the first left onto Old Newnan Road. Take the next right on Precision Pass then right on Horsley Mill Road. Carroll County Prison is on the left.
