2. What is the Comprehensive Plan?: The Comprehensive Plan is the county's road map for the future. This official, living, county-wide public document provides long range policy direction for land use, transportation, economic development, housing, public facilities, and intergovernmental agreements along with its natural and cultural resources. It serves as a guide for elected and public officials by providing the framework for evaluating development proposals. Included in the Comprehensive Plan are strategies for program funding for all county departments.

3. Are all businesses required to get a tax ID number (FEIN or EIN)? Where do I get such numbers?: Yes. Contact the Georgia Department of Revenue at 404-968-0480.

4. What is the minimum square footage for a home in Carroll County?: The minimum square footage county-wide is 1,230 sf for a home, conventional or manufactured. The square footage in a subdivision may be more depending on the covenants for that community.

5. How do I get an address for my property?: You must get approval from the County Planner to be assigned an address. Generally, vacant property will not be approved for an address. Once this approval is given, you will go to the Map Room in the Tax Assessor's office to have the address assigned.

6. How do I get a septic tank permit?: Septic tank permits are obtained through Environmental Health, which is located across from the Permit Office. You may contact them at 770-836-6781.

7. How much property is required for a mobile home in Carroll County?: The lot size requirement for ALL homes is based on the zoning of the property. This is the same whether you are building a house or placing a manufactured or modular home. Most of the county is zoned Agricultural, which does allow for mobile homes, but the only way to be certain about the zoning of property is to contact the County Planner. Agricultural zoning has a minimum lot size of four acres.
