District 1 Commissioner

Montrell McClendon is a life-time resident of Carroll County, Georgia. In March 2018, he was elected to serve as Carroll County Commissioner of District 1. Commissioner McClendon is a 1993 graduate of Carrollton High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of West Georgia. He also earned a specialist’s degree in educational leadership from Columbus State University. He has spent the past 13 years as an educator in both the Carroll County and Carrollton City School Systems as a teacher, coach, and administrator.

Commissioner McClendon currently works for Carrollton Elementary School as an assistant principal. He has started mentor program and has pushed STEM initiatives to get students better acclimated to the current and future job market. He also serves as an elder at Southern Hills Christian Church and as a community lacrosse coach.

He is married to Donna Eddleman McClendon, and they have a son, Finny.

Commissioner McClendon's term expires December 31, 2020.
